Red Orchestra 2 server is a hit!
« on: September 15, 2011, 01:04:20 AM »
After only one day we able to get our 32 player server FULL! And what brilliant games we've had already.

To connect, the safest way is to open your console and enter:
Code: [Select]
open ro2.lmcgaming.com(the in-game server browser is still very buggy and causes crashes)

Please join us when you can in our RO2 server for great times. We are considering getting a TeamSpeak server just to mirror the RO2 server (since RO2 in-game voice chat is pretty broken). That way hopefully most of the players in the server will be able to communicate and we can get to the teamwork.

If you would like to donate, please donate by using the link below:

We will be having a fun night this Sunday, Sept. 18th, starting at 8pm EST. Make sure to join us in TeamSpeak to make the most of it. SEE YOU ALL THERE!

There was a Steam update to RO2 today at 730pm EST. Unlocks are fixed from Deluxe edition, along with a number of other fixes. Voip still lags pretty bad though. I have not had a chance to test if the server browser is more stable. Can anyone comment on improved performance since the update?

I want to recommend not doing any modifications except for the ones in game. This is just from my own experience, but changing most of the settings seemed to harm the performance very badly in my case and reinstalling the game to stock made it run almost perfect compared to what had happened after the modifications. Just thought anyone not seeing a improvement in performance after doing these changes should know.

We need to get rid of killcam.

We need to get rid of killcam.

It will go soon enough. I think it's he best way to help new players get used to the maps and learn. That's important for the community. I understand it frustrates you, it frustrates me too. But think of it as contributing to the education of the RO2 player population as a whole. At least for a little while. Unless everyone feels strongly enough. A feature like that is not in my hands (doesn't affect technically), so it's the community at large who must decide. I will argue for what's best for the RO2 community as a whole though. I would certainly like to see it go too. But in the mean-time, it's making better players of those that play on our server. I still appreciate it from time to time. We should debate it's use in teamspeak, because there are a lot of great points I'd like to bring up. I think the real question is WHEN to get rid of it.

I have noticed a lot of talk about it in server.  People are expecting to come in their and play realism which they do not associate with kill cams. It kind of runs contrary to the idea of "Teamwork & Realism".

At the same time, I think it should go sooner rather than later (as in 1-3 days).  I have become pretty accustomed to the maps and I don't even play that much.  This game has been out for a week now.  Perhaps that is enough time for people to have accustomed themselves to the maps.  Plus they can always use tactical display if they need to know where they are going.

A considerable amount of mods made by the community for the game are being made since early 2009. The mods range from different types, from the Vietnam War, the Portuguese Colonial War, World War I, expansion of the Eastern Front (World War II) to a remake of Warhammer 40,000 and a adapted version of Minecraft that includes Red Orchestra gameplay elements.

So excited about the mods to come!
(that minecraft mod [lol-sigh] seems dead, no posts by would be developer since Dec las year )

Yeah that's great, but is there a reason the server is empty at 8pm EST on a Monday?  There should be people playing it in it right now.

A part of me is thinking either there was another update OR we decided to screw around with the setting again at a not so great time to do so.  If so, then we should consider a hands off policy approach to server settings for the short while because this beginning time is especially sensitive.

There was a steep dive off of players at around 8 pm EST?  Was it a crash?  This is troublesome because I feel like we might be dropping the ball when it comes to consistency and stability.  This is an issue especially when I see 32 player servers out there on the east coast full right now?

We can't forget that we are just one server out of hundreds.  We ain't fancy.

Sheesh it was one small mistake. =P
The latest drop was yet another unannounced automatic patch update. I wrote a very stern letter to gameservers and they are responding (hopefully by removing auto updating). We'll wait and see. I've been working with them on the lag issues and such. IT's a lot of work so any appreciation goes a long way. =) Unless you wanna deal with it? (trust me you don't)

I am just worried.  I want this too succeed really badly as I am sure you've already noticed.  Why do they auto update at the worst time?  8pm EST??? Jebus Christos.  What is wrong with them?  It shouldn't have to be this much work.

I know you have been putting in time and work into this, but I am starting to think that game servers is more of a headache than anything else.
