17 apr server update!

it's finally running the updated modpack that was scheduled to go on in march (yes, i was lazy) and the mission has been updated to the latest version (0.923) which fixes a lot of bugs and performance issues https://trello.com/b/FfUXrHn1/liberation-dev  < the original mission creator's trello page with the version history (yes, i only convert it to other maps and add features like ACE and new buildings/vehicles/units/hostiles if that wasnt known)

also because the carrier's map icon only showed up in the editor i made new map markers for it, no more guessing where the deck is and eyeballing the approach

yup, you can also spawn in AI to help you but just as with vehicles it takes resources to spawn them in

So it's like persistent long term RPG is a sense that you build up and try to take the whole island? do you have AI to help or is it you (and whoever else joins) against the world?

added mod list to OP and changed the google drive repository to allow for separete mod downloads instead of getting them as larger packs

problems with hosting (doesnt read server.cfg for some reason) so i reinstalled the server in hopes of fixing this a week ago and been trying to fix the issue.. i don't know how long will the server remain down because im having a difficult time figuring out the issue so i can't give an ETA of when it's up again

Can't you initially DL on drive, then have six read the mods and update from then on?

both armaholic and six throttle downloads unless you get premium (a dick move on their behalf in my opinion, it's not as bad on six as it is on armaholic though) so i think the fastest way is from my google drive upload (and the best because steam workshop doesnt have it all)

i don't really know any other arma mod sites though

getting them elsewhere is only an alternative if the drive download keeps failing for some reason but i dont know how to help with that because ive never run into that issue on drive

*note: because of their throttling it takes me anywhere between 45min-1.5h to download a 1gb file from armaholic, before they started that bs i got the file in less than 10 minutes
and on six downloading the entire pack can take up to 24 hours, again due to throttling

*edit: the downside of google drive is that when there's a mod update you need to re-download the entire mod whereas six directly updates the changed files which is probably faster - but that requires it to be downloaded from six in the first place.. basically there is no one "best" way, there's only "ok" (drive) "kinda sucky" (six), "horrible" (armaholic) and "kind of works for some things" (workshop)

i personally use a combination of all three places to update things - six, workshop and armaholic and constantly keep an eye out for updates so i'm making it easier (and faster) via drive for others to download them later

so we do need all of them. And why would getting them elsewhere make a difference? Are the dls smaller over six/workshop? or faster?

nah you can get them seperately from armaholic or where ever too, just look at the contents of the zips on drive
