I'm back to active status. PopulationI'd be more than willing to get the team and server running, but we need a lot of interest, the problem with a BF3 server is the fact that there are so many servers out there. You need regulars that will add your server to their favorites, and keep it populated, otherwise it would be a waste of money, I've already seen a server or two get started, couldn't keep it populated and they died off.
So before the money is invested into a server, i'd suggest getting a minimum of 10 members/friends to keep the server populated, It's not very hard to get people to join if you have 10+ people in the server(Presuming it's a 32 slot server).
Suggested ProviderThe price from Nuclear Fallout (
http://www.nfoservers.com) is about $42/month for a 32 slot BF3 Ranked server without 'High Priority', which I've been a long costumer of theirs and I trust that they don't overload their servers so I personally don't see a point to 'High Priority'.
AdministrationNuclear Fallout provides their own style of in-game administration called "Daemon."
I preferred to use "Procon" (
http://phogue.net/procon-frostbite/), which allows remote access(including an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) to administrate server files and players. Procon also offers in-game commands to anyone with the appropriate permissions, permissions are granted by username or GUID.
Procon also provides server plugins, some are useful, some are for mucks and giggles, and others are just customizing your server for what you would prefer to offer to players, such as a Zombie Mod.
Just my input on what I already know about BF3 servers, when I get the time to play I play with about 5 guys from one group and 2-4 from another, which I could try to attempt to get them to help keep the server populated, but all of them play around 3-5 different games in a day, so no guarantees.
