I'm going to do my best and point out the pro's and con's of the games as it stands today right now. First about the game, you play a character trying to survive the Zed Apocalypse. In the beautiful land of Chenarus, you will find many many building to enter and loot, in your search for the things you need to survive.

An honest review of DayZ Alpha
Author: Prof. K

I'm going to do my best and point out the pro's and con's of the games as it stands today right now. First about the game, you play a character trying to survive the Zed Apocalypse. In the beautiful land of Chenarus, you will find many many building to enter and loot, in your search for the things you need to survive. You will spend your time running from both zombies and humans in your fight for survival. No where is safe and you will never have everything you need to survive. Teamwork, stealthiness, hiding, melee combat and betrayal is just another day in Chenarus. Be prepared to Die, it will happen and you will be sad. Now the question should you buy it?

Well here's some things to keep in mind, there is a Mod for Arma2 which was the father of the game so I'm going to use that as the bench mark because its still very viable and playable. The game is an alpha which means if you don't want to be an alpha tester and all the frustrations that come with it, you should wait.  Other reasons to wait and keep playing the Mod, the game has had major issues in its few days, Steam authentication servers  crash and you won't even be able to play. Game servers crash pretty regularly and will often lead to your character being deleted. There is a bunch of problems that the mod fixed in the last year that the game didn't, server hoping aka ghosting, combat logging, Hackers (yep games not even 72 hours old and already hackers rule the world, esp, infinite ammo and teleporting) just to name a few of the big ones.

Now if your still a die hard fan boy or you just want to buy the game now while its only 30$ and willing to wait for it to be a full game, then here are the thing the game does better than the Mod. It's truly a beautiful game, it looks and sounds better than the actual out doors. The inventory system is much more realistic and it has lots of depth and room for all kinds of wonderful implementations someday. The zombies (when working) actually act like zombies and are a actual threat. The maps is Greatly improved! it's easy to see after only playing a few days that most, if not all of there efforts over the past year have gone into the map, this is the one place you will not find anything to complain about the map is awesome and really fun to explore. There are a handful of other small improvements as well, no more side chat and add complexities to items, ie everything has durability.

Overall it's probably worth it to pick it up now for 30$ and let it sit in you library for 6-12months till its an actual game, but that's just my 3 cents, take it for what you will.
