TDB Mini Tournament
« on: January 06, 2010, 10:54:42 pm »
Hi guys, The Devil's Brigade will be hosting a Mini Tournament on Sat. Jan 16th and we're inivting you to participate! So get your teams ready and signed up!

Sign up here (and more info):
http://forums.insmod.org/index.php?showtopic=21855

So far we are allowing a max of 2 teams per clan, however I am trying to setup 1 'mix' team. This team will consist of different clan members or even players that are not in a clan. It is experimental, so if you guys could help out with providing a player or two for this team, that would be great!

Also, Leaders: if you are not yet in the "North American Clan Leaders List" steam community, please add me to your steam friends, and I'll toss you an invite: saso2001@mail.ru

Hope to see you there!

We'll have to review the rules and such before agreeing, but we are always excited about events that bring the INS community together as well as chances to better our relations with other clans/communities. Our main concern is that our structure is accepted. LMC has a "community team" yes, but we aren't like any traditional clan. We are more a community, and our individual teams are what you would call "Clans". This has caused confusion in the past and so we are hesitant to engage in such events where mis-communications of this type are likely to cause confusion and possibly incident. We had this problem in the SCE tournament which is why we immediately dropped out of the tournament after our first win. We are working to clarify our structure for others so that confusion can be avoided in the future, but we have experienced a level of inconsideration (either closed-minded lack of aknowledgement, or simply refusal of acceptance) in past interactions which make us keen on having clear lines of communication open, and a foundational mutual understanding before trying to fit into rules that are defined by limiting paradigms.

Our innovative structure aside, we are thrilled by your invitation and if possible, would love to participate. After all it is very difficult to organize one of these events, and even more challenging to ensure it is executed successfully. Therefore we love to contribute to such events in hopes of aiding success, and so contributing to the general organization and activity of the Insurgency community.

Thanks again for the invitation, and long live TDB and LMC. =)

I am more than glad to invite LMC into the tournament, as from my experience you guys are very organized and are great insurgency players and simply pleasant to play with ;).

I actually didn't know most of the things you wrote here, Kauai, but now that I've read up on some of the rules I have a better idea of how your 'community' works. I am impressed by the way you deal with the creation and the running of official teams, and with you permission, I might take away a few ideas to implement in our clan in the future :)

I did not find, however, how many 'official teams' LMC has in INS. I remember seeing somewhere that you have two, but I am unsure.

In the Mini Tournament, I do not intend on making any rules that will undermine any of the clans or communities. I simply want to run a friendly tournament where the North American community can get together and experience the competitive play that the European community has. I am setting this up just so that all of us can get together and have fun - and the competitive environment makes it so much more interesting, enhancing the importance of teamwork and strategy.

As far as rules go, we will be following the ESL rules (excluding Aequitas). The tournament tree will be posted this weekend, when I hopefully will have a clear knowledge of how many teams I can expect to show up.

I hope to see your teams in our tournament!

It's certainly fine by me if you use our methods as inspiration. =) I, for one, just like to see organization and would be proud to see others doing what they can to break the old paradigms and raise awareness to think outside the box.

I'll see what I can do to clear the confusion regarding the teams... feel free to contact any of the leaders for info. Gen is the Head of External Affairs and so it is his role and authority, I'm just filling in for him while till he has time (he's been really busy lately).

We have 2 Official LMC Teams: DeRe (Delayed Reaction - led by Snakemuck), and [sT] (Special Tactics and Recon - Led by myself)
And then of course the LMC Community team.

I think I might actually have my team ([sT]) participate! And I'm sure DeRe would be glad to join. That leaves the LMC Community team (all LMC members not assigned to an official team, who prefer to compete with less rigorous requirements like mandatory practices and such). The Community team is simply any members who decide to join an event... any LMC member or Recruit is allowed to compete on the LMC Community team.

So we might have 3 teams for you!

I'll put up a sign-up sheet for the community team for this event, and I'll see if my team ([sT]) can be there, I'm sure Snake will let you know here whether DeRe can compete as well.

Thanks again for all your kind consideration, it feels like your event will be a much needed success (after the SCE tourney)!

Can we set a time to meet in Ventrilo so you can fill us in on he details or rules perhaps? I know you must be busy, so I'll understand completely if you don't have the time.

Thanks again for the invite, profound respect, and time you took to read-up on our structure to better understand us, it's more consideration than I expected and I am truly grateful.

Aloha =)

Great! Well, if you will be there at tomorrow's scrim we could speak either before or after if you have any questions about the tournament.

Everything is ready guys, I just need to know how many players and teams I can expect. Also Snake, if there is a server that we could use for the tournament, please tell me the IP.

We don't have any clan-related events planned for then so we can volunteer it for the mini tournament.

THANKS!!! =D It's gorgeous! Great graphic work. Would it be possible though to remove the sT tag? It was just the community team, I couldn't actually get enough sT members to enter sT into the tourney =P... and would it be possible to get the photoshop file (or whatever format it was), so that I can use it to create thin banners personalized for each person that played on the team? If not, then no worries; this alone is killer, and way more than I expected. ;) :D

Thanks again for hosting the event! It was a lot of fun and a great challenge.

On a side note, I have a sign-up sheet in our members area for the weekly scrim tomorrow night, so we should be set for tomorrow... although I wasn't sure of what time would be best so I left it blank but estimated the scrim would start between 8-10pm EST... Does that sound good?

Aloha =)

And, I talked to my guys, they will be more than happy to play LMC today in a friendly scrim, but I'm probably not going to be there:(. Is 9pm EST ok?

9pm sounds brilliant, but  for some strange reason it's a crazy slow (or rather busy depending on how you look at it) week for our members and nobody is around. =P There are only a couple names on the sign-up for the scrim so maybe we should try to start off the weekly scrims next week so there's more time to spread the word. ;) We may actually get enough ppl at the last moment but I'm not very confident being 20 till and all lol.

And thanks a MILLION for the banner! I can't tell you enough how impressed I am with all the work you put into the event and our glorious trophy of a gift! It is all highly appreciated by us.  :)

Aloha =)
