this is insane, for some reason my computer lags and freezes while the fan is rattling and runs perfectly when it doesnt (any idea why?).. anyways.. ordered a new fan and it arrives here between the 4th and 24th (15usd+free shipping so that aint too much.. ordering a new screen on the 10th)

*edit: im 100% sure that it's my cpu fan that rattles because when it does the rpm drops from 1800 to 100 when the pc is idle (5100 to 100 when cpu usage is high)

It's because it overheats when the fan rattles I'm assuming.

If anyone has nasty overheating problems with a laptop I suggest putting a paper plate or something underneath it to let the air flow and heat escape. Works wonders for mine. Hopefully your new laptop will be nicer to you.

been doing that for years on my desktops and my laptop, not a single one of them has ever been fried while or after doing that.. so going by experience your opinion is false

all you gotta do is properly remove all power sources, discharge safely and keep the tip of the vacuum cleaner from touching anything while dusting with a brush

i agree with you on the fact that a person who has no idea how to do it should stay at least 5 feet away while its being done or use compressed air (which due to its dryness also causes static electricity, in fact all friction, regardless of the elements used, does according to physics, the amount is just different)

actually anyone who has no idea what they are doing should stay at least 5 feet away from an open computer case

BUT using right materials (low powered vacuum cleaner, plastic vacuum cleaner tip and a non synthetic SOFT brush that has all metal either isolated or has no metal at all) and right techniques (prevent fans from moving to not create charge with their coils, keep the vac cleaner tip at least an inch away at all times and brush the dust into it) you minimize, if not eliminate the risk of frying your pc

Weird, When I was younger I had an old rig that would eat pounds of dust and I always just threw it on my bed then took it apart piece by piece cleaning them as I went. I never had a problem with shorting anything, However I always made sure the PC was unplugged , but even then I  would run it 2-3 weeks strait no restart with the case open on my desk. Now that I think back on it, I tortured that poor box and the only thing that ever happened to it was a dead HDD. Still it's always better to be safe than sorry..
