Setting up a vanilla survival server?

It'd be awesome to have a vanilla survival server like we used to have. I know I'd play on it, would anyone else?

I'd hop on from time to time, Find any plugins you might like and I'll compile a server. Just gotta get it hosted.

It would be nice. I did do this on my older rig, but we couldn't deal with the immaturity. It was a big headache.

The people that were involved with the immaturity are no longer members so I don't see it as being much of an issue anymore

Admins plugins are almost essential, Anti cheat/hacks and such.

Rawr wanna compile me a server then? I have 50mbps down and 10mbps up, and an i7-3770k, I could temp host it then send the map to whoever perm hosts it. Only thing holding me back is one of my RAM sticks broke so I only got 6GB right now, usually have 10 though.

Sure, give me about a day and you'll be all set.

Ok after a quick  read up on the new way MC handles it clients and servers I realized vanilla doesn't support plugins. I would have to set up a bukkit based server for that. However if all you want is plain 'ol vanilla, the base server with OP's set up should work fine.

All you will have to do will be edit the server.properties and put in your IP/hostname and port if it's not default.

Quick question tho, Do you want it hardcore, Max players, and Max amount of RAM to allocate
