Need a new monitor
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:05:47 am »
Well, I'm a die hard CRT guy, but I think it's time to move in to the 21st century.  I need help with monitors though because I have been out of the game for years and wouldn't know a good deal if I saw one and it slapped me.

Of course, I am going to wait for after Christmas sales because that is the best time to shop during the whole year.

What about this?

For gaming? Graphic work? The uses are critical to getting the right monitor. If gaming is your main concern then look for a monitor with a fast refresh and low input lag (you'll have to look at proper reviews, never trust the specs). You can get a good gaming LCD these days for around $150. If you want something with color accuracy though you are looking more at $400 min, up to $1000 min for great accuracy. I've seen a great ASUS 3D IPS monitor for $250, and likewise 120hz LCDs for around the same. Monitors are cheapo these days, but there are a lot of lemons and bap products. Shop smart. =)

I saw that one, thanks.  I am hoping it will go down in price or I'll find a better deal come a couple of weeks.

Look at the 2ms Asus monitors. They have very little input lag.
